A New Orleans woman riding her bicycle to work near City Park suffered painful injuries after a driver entered a designated bike lane and struck her. Flattmann Law recovered the maximum available insurance coverage from both the at-fault driver and the client’s uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, securing a total recovery of $65,000.

Gloria regularly rode her bicycle to work through New Orleans and was traveling near City Park
one morning using a designated bike lane when a driver suddenly entered the lane and collided
with her.
The force of the impact knocked Gloria from her bicycle and onto the roadway. Emergency
responders transported her by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
As a result of the crash, Gloria suffered multiple painful injuries, including a forehead laceration,
shoulder injuries, abrasions to her arms and legs, hip pain, wrist pain, and injuries to her hands
and feet. Following the collision, she experienced ongoing shoulder pain, weakness, numbness,
tingling, and difficulty with movement.
Despite conservative treatment, Gloria’s symptoms continued for months after the accident.
Imaging studies eventually revealed significant shoulder injuries, including ligament and labral
damage. She ultimately underwent physical therapy and continued orthopedic treatment in an
effort to avoid worsening symptoms and improve her shoulder function.
Flattmann Law gathered Gloria’s medical records, billing documentation, and treatment history
to fully present the extent of her injuries and recovery process to the insurance companies
involved.
Unfortunately, the at-fault driver carried only minimal liability insurance coverage. After
presenting the evidence and damages, Flattmann Law recovered the full $15,000 liability policy
limits from the at-fault driver’s insurance company.
Because Gloria’s damages exceeded the available liability coverage, we also pursued a claim
under her uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) coverage. Through additional negotiation and
presentation of the medical evidence, Flattmann Law recovered an additional $50,000 in UM
benefits.
In total, Gloria recovered $65,000 for her injuries and damages.
