A motorcyclist suffered painful spinal injuries after being struck from behind while riding in New Orleans. Although the at-fault driver carried only minimal insurance coverage, Flattmann Law recovered the full available policy limits and worked extensively to reduce medical liens and repayment obligations, helping maximize the client’s financial recovery.

Morris was riding his motorcycle in New Orleans when another driver struck him from behind,
causing a violent crash that left him with painful spinal injuries.
Following the collision, Morris was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans for
emergency evaluation and treatment. He immediately complained of significant back pain and
underwent extensive imaging studies, including CT scans and MRIs of his spine and other areas
of his body.
Initial imaging revealed compression fracture deformities involving multiple thoracic vertebrae
in his upper back, including injuries at the T3, T4, and T5 levels. Morris continued experiencing
ongoing spinal pain and discomfort following the crash and underwent additional orthopedic and
radiological evaluation during his recovery.
As is often the case in motorcycle accidents, Morris’s injuries were significant despite relatively
limited insurance coverage being available through the at-fault driver’s policy.
Flattmann Law successfully recovered the full available $15,000 insurance policy limits on
Morris’s behalf. However, obtaining the policy limits was only part of the work necessary to
protect the client’s interests.
Following settlement, Flattmann Law worked extensively behind the scenes to negotiate and
reduce outstanding medical liens, reimbursement claims, and repayment obligations connected to
Morris’s treatment.
Those efforts significantly reduced the amount Morris ultimately had to repay from his
settlement proceeds and helped maximize the actual funds he was able to keep following
resolution of the case.
