A motorized scooter rider suffered serious injuries after being rear-ended by a vehicle and thrown onto the interstate in New Orleans. Following litigation and extensive medical treatment, Flattmann Law recovered $98,500 on behalf of the injured client and his wife.

Gordon was riding his motorized scooter On Interstate 10 in New Orleans when another driver
struck him violently from behind, causing a catastrophic crash.
The force of the collision launched Gordon onto the hood of the vehicle before he was ultimately
thrown from the car, rolling across the interstate pavement and landing on the shoulder of the
roadway.
Emergency responders immobilized Gordon at the scene and transported him by ambulance to
the hospital for emergency treatment.
The collision left Gordon with painful injuries throughout his body, including extensive
abrasions, contusions, road rash, neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, knee pain, ankle
pain, wrist pain, headaches, numbness, and radiating symptoms into his arm and fingers.
In the days following the crash, Gordon’s wife helped care for him at home, including assisting
with cleaning gravel and debris from his skin as he recovered from the extensive abrasions
caused by sliding across the pavement.
As Gordon continued treatment, diagnostic imaging revealed significant cervical spine injuries,
including a cervical disc herniation causing spinal canal and nerve compression. Gordon
continued experiencing radiating neck pain, numbness, weakness, and ongoing orthopedic
symptoms long after the crash.
Doctors discussed the possibility of future cervical spine procedures and surgery if conservative
treatment failed to provide lasting relief.
In addition to his physical injuries, Gordon missed substantial time from work while attending
medical appointments and recovering from the collision. The injuries also significantly affected
his ability to walk, sit comfortably, drive, raise his arms, and perform routine daily activities.
Flattmann Law pursued claims on behalf of both Gordon and his wife, who also suffered loss of
consortium damages while caring for him during his recovery.
After litigation and continued negotiations, the case ultimately resolved for $98,500.
